Understanding Your Estimate

When using your health insurance, typically you (the patient) initially owes what’s known as a deductible. The provider doesn’t receive any payment for services until your deductible is met. All of our estimates make it easy to understand your insurance plan including your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum.

Addiction & mental health treatment typically lasts 30 to 90 days, and most patients will not only meet their deductible but also their out-of-pocket maximum within thirty days. Our estimates are meant to give you a fair, an easy to understand initial estimate based on your remaining out-of-pocket maximum.

*It’s worth noting that our estimates are just that – an estimate. They are subject to changes based on a variety of factors including: your insurance resetting, outstanding insurance claims (but unprocessed), human & insurance errors, and other factors.

Can my friends or family help me pay?

Yes! There’s a couple of ways to have your family or support system help you pay the costs associated with treatment. They can make a payment themselves in the portal on your behalf. If you have several different individuals, the best way to handle that is to reach out to your facility. They can use our system to serially add each party and amount. These individuals will get an email link to make a payment on your behalf.

I don’t think my statement is correct, what should I do?

When it comes to billing, claims often contain the medical coding and descriptions required by insurance payers which may not relate to your experience but were provided services during your treatment episode. If you have questions about your invoice, the best way to get assistance is call the phone number provided on the invoice. Your treatment facility can help you better understand the charges and, if necessary, help make any necessary changes.

What should I do if my insurance changes?

If your insurance changes while you are in treatment, the best thing to do is to immediately let your treatment facility know. There may be additional amounts that you owe, depending on the new policy. Please note, the original estimate will not account for changes in insurance policies.

When can I expect my final statement?

Typically, insurance companies can take 30 to 120+ days to process your insurance claims. The timing depends on a variety of factors, including whether the facility is in-network with your insurance payer (in-network will process faster). This is why your provided an initial estimate, based on the information provided by your insurance company at the time of admission. Once your insurance claims have processed, you’ll get a text or email alert & a mailed copy of your final statement.

If you’ve paid more than your final statement amount and due a refund, our system makes it easy for the facility to process this refund back to your card on file. This typically occurs within two weeks of your final statement. Once a refund a processed, you’ll receive a text and/or email notification that the refund has been processed and be able to view the exact amount.
